The Bahrain Economic Development Board is a public agency under the Bahraini Prime Minister’s office, responsible for formulating and supporting various policies related to Middle Eastern expansion and investment. Recently, Bahrain has been significantly increasing investments in the field of artificial intelligence, actively pursuing digital transformation policies to drive non-oil sector growth.

Due to this supportive government stance and business-friendly environment, Bahrain has become a major destination for Middle Eastern expansion for IT companies. Last week, Ali Al Mudaifa, Chief Business Development Officer of Bahrain EDB, along with other business development representatives, visited Korea to meet with key players in the digital industry.

During the visit, Flitto showcased its multilingual platform’s Arabic data building process and demonstrated advanced real-time AI translation technology. The language startup also offered Bahrain EDB representatives an opportunity to experience its technological capacity firsthand by translating a Korean presentation on Middle Eastern market entry strategies into Arabic in real-time using “Live Translation,” its self-developed AI translation solution.

Flitto also explained the structure of its Arabic data building project aimed at enhancing AI language capabilities in the Middle East, emphasizing the importance of acquiring data specializing in the Arabic-speaking regions, including various regional dialects. Ali Al Mudaifa acknowledged the necessity of securing data that caters to the Middle East and expressed interest in continuing discussions on potential collaboration.

Flitto CEO Simon Lee stated, “We recognize the high interest and demand for Arabic data for AI systems in the Middle Eastern region. Leveraging Flitto’s multilingual data building capabilities, we are committed to actively supplying high-quality Arabic data necessary for training Middle Eastern large language models (LLMs).”
