SoundHound AI, a voice artificial intelligence company, has partnered with Perplexity AI, a conversational AI powered answer engine, to integrate Perplexity’s online LLM capabilities into SoundHound Chat AI.

This partnership will enable Perplexity AI to extend voice assistant services to cars, TVs, and other IoT devices and enable SoundHound Chat AI to provide accurate, up-to-date responses to web-based queries that static LLMs cannot currently answer.
For example, users can ask questions like “How does the price of gas this week compare to last week?” and receive a response that combines accurate, live information on gas prices with a comprehensive generative AI-style explanation.
“Where this technology is already deployed in vehicles, we’re seeing usage habits shift substantially – increasing by multiples. We’re confident that this enhancement will further delight users as more and more people choose to talk rather than type.” said Mike Zagorsek, Chief Operations Officer at SoundHound AI.
“Through this integration with SoundHound’s Chat AI assistant, we’re one step closer to our goal of making Perplexity available to everyone across every device they use,” said Dmitry Shevelenko, Chief Business Officer at Perplexity AI.
This development comes on the heels of OpenAI planning to launch a search engine soon, which would be able to provide real-time information much like Perplexity does.
Perplexity AI recently raised $63 million at a $1 billion valuation, led by Daniel Gross and others, including Jeff Bezos and NVIDIA. The funding will support Perplexity’s growth and expansion, as well as the launch of Enterprise Pro, a new product designed to enhance security and privacy features for business environments.
