From intuitive navigation tools to enhanced multitasking capabilities, these updates promise to keep subscribers entertained and connected like never before.

Here are all the features YouTube is promising to bring to your screen.

Jump Ahead

Skipping to your favourite part of the video becomes much easier now with the Jump Ahead feature. By double-tapping to skip ahead, users will now see a ‘jump ahead’ button that will take them directly to key moments in the video.

According to YouTube, this innovation is powered by artificial intelligence and viewership data. It is currently available to all US Premium subscribers on Android and is set to launch for iOS users in the coming weeks.

Picture-in-Picture for YouTube Shorts

Premium users will now be able to multitask on other apps while being hooked onto their favourite YouTube Shorts. Whether it’s texting a friend, catching up on emails, or browsing through your social media feed — you can do it all without needing to exit your Shorts feed.

However, the feature is currently only available for Android users.

Early Access to Latest Experimental Features

Premium subscribers are in for a treat with early access to the latest experimental features on YouTube. Here’s what’s available right now:

Smart Downloads for YouTube Shorts: This feature automatically downloads a fresh batch of entertaining Shorts to your phones and ensures that you have access to the content even when you’re offline. It is perfect for those on the go or in areas with limited connectivity.

Conversational AI: YouTube’s conversational AI is making a comeback on Android devices in the US. This assistive tool is said to enhance the viewing experience by answering questions, suggesting related content, and more, all without interrupting playback.

Users can access this feature by tapping “Ask” beneath select videos, allowing them to interact with the content in new and engaging ways.

Redesigned Watch Page: YouTube is also testing a redesigned watch page on the web which is expected to make it easier to find related content and engage with comments.

YouTube has not yet made clear when the features would be available in China, but if these pique your interest you might want to consider getting the YouTube Premium subscription.

Currently, it is available in three prepaid plans starting at ₹139 per month and going as high as ₹1,290 for a year. You can also opt for a recurring plan at ₹129 a month.
